I am currently using DVD Shrinnk 3.1.7.6, DVD Decrypter and Titleset Blanker as my tools to burn dvds. Generally, I'm very happy with the results, but I read the screenshot comparison review of the various burning softwares that was posted on the website and noticed that the screenshots using the Intervideo DVD Copy 2 Gold were very impressive.

The company's website says that you can manually control compression. I downoladed the trial version and cannot see where compression can be controlled. Any help on this or comments about this product in general would be appreciated.

The whole test was bogus. The pictures that are supposed to be created by Inter Video are actually the same as the original...
Donīt believe the hype...
Stick with DVDShrink, way better IMHO."This is true in all walks of life: Man takes care of the quantity, woman the quality." -
Thanks!!
I've read other reviews of dvd copying software that weren't so hot on the Intercopy product. Check this out:

That review obviously didn't include Shrink because it's free! I've been happy with it, but just wanted to know if people thought there was a better product. I used to use XCopy Express. I love the results, but don't love the fact that it doesn't allow much control over what I can copy. -

Yep, I have to agree with pkath123.
I downloaded the trial version of Intervideo after seeing that very same 'test' and results I got on every backup I tried were below par... large artifacts present on some scenes, and a general grainyness.
Shrink is good enough for most people, though I personally prefer 3.0 beta 5 as it seems to give better results than the more recent versions -
rich_jtg,
I read your response to my post and noticed others who have used Shrink 3.0.5 Beta. Somebody posted a download of it, but being the idiot that I am, I'm having trouble with it. When I tell Shrink 3.0.5 to open and rip the movie, it does. It rips it to a specified folder, but it doesn't have the feature that 3.1.7 has, where it actually writes it to my dvd burner using Nero. As best I can tell, with Shrink 3.0.5, all I get is the ripped movie on my hard drive. I still have to open Shrink 3.1.7 to write the movie to dvd-r.
Any ideas from anybody using 3.0.5 Beta would be appreciated. -
I'm not sure, since I don't use that version of shrink. But couldn't you simply burn the folder using Nero? Just open Nero Express, select DVD-Video (this is the latest version of Nero, btw...not sure about others). You will see two folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Double click the VIDEO_TS and click the Add button. Browse to where the DVD Shrink Vob files are located. Select every file in that directory and click Add, then finished and Next. Name your disc, set your burn speed and hit burn.
G'Luck!
EDIT: Just read where DVD Shrink might make an ISO file, if this is the case then the above guide won't work. You have to burn an ISO using DVD-Decrypter. -

second, Shrink 3.17 does NOT burn dvdrs. it CALLS Nero to burn. you can CALL Nero yourself...try double-clicking on the Nero icon on your desktop.BTW welcome to the forum.

Some people don't know what settings to use in Nero and others want the one click ease to backup their movie.
So you can "CALL" nero yourself and change your tone with the new people. Just because he only has 3 posts it doesnt mean you need to treat him like he has nothing to offer this board. -
