Ok, I checked through a few threads and I believe I know the answer to this. But I must explain directly what I want to do. My neighbor asked me to put a 8mm home movie on a DVD. I figured, no problem. That is until she told me she was sending it home to the UK. I'm in Japan. My initial idea was to simply capture at 352 or 720 X 576 and letterbox the areas between 480 and 576. I am assuming she has an NTSC camera. Aside from the resolution, I would just capture at 25 fps instead of 29.97. But something tells me it can't be that easy. How should I handle this?

UK equipment can play back NTSC without a problem , so you should be OK without converting to PAL.

He's in Japan?....Tape is going to U.K.?
OK....NOW I get it.
Yep....skip the conversion process....it's not worth it. The U.K. stuff will play it reasonably well. -
