I have surround sound setup on my computer, and no speakers for my TV. I went out and bought a wire that takes the TV's rca output, and converts it into 1/8" jack. I want to plug that into my computer's mic input, and then I want that to go straight out to my speakers. No recording or anything like that. Do I need software for that or how do I do that? Thanks.

First of all dont plug it into your mic,use line-in and then go to control panel/sounds and audio devices/audio/sound playback/volume and make sure line-in is not checked(unmuted). Also go to sound recording and check line-in.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
