I a capturing my 2 hrs of DV in powerDirector and then encode to DVD and end up with a 5.5GB PS Mpg file as was expected.

Then, using DVD Lab I demultiplex into elemental Streams successfully. When I try to compile the DVD I get a "compile error" saying if my video files arent demultiplexed to do that or reencode the video...

This problem has only recently started.. I have done exactly the same methods many times.. I realise the DVD file is too big for disk I was intending to use cloneDVD to make it fit(Have done this many times too.

Does anyone know why DVDLab gives me these problems? What other software could/should I use for this task of mine?

  2. Anything unusual about the GOP size?

What bit rate did you set for the encoding? I would bet the max bit rate plus audio exceeds DVD stds somewhere.

When I encode my DV video, I never go beyond 7000 kbs max plus 192 kbs for AC3 audio.

    try this:

Use a tool like rejig and transcode your video by 10%. If it fixes the problem, max bit rate was exceeded. In DVD lab Pro, a rejig like app is builtin.

    Thanks Brian,

I dont seem to have the option in PowerDirector to change the bitrates. The video is preset at 6000 and 192 for the audio.

GOP size does seem to be an issue though (I dont even know what GOP is..). When the error comes up in its little window the compile pane says "GOP size is out memory".

    Having difficulty locating Rejig(site closed).

I just tried re-capturing only 80 mins of DV which is 3.8GB in windows explorer. However when I try to burn to DVD with Powerdirector it says the video size exceeds 4.8GB and refuses to burn. Maybe something is corrupted within PowerDirector.

I shall persevere.. please feel free to offer more assistance.
