  1. Hello,
I am trying to author a dvd for a show my student organization held. I imported my movie [.mpg] and had dvd lab pro demux it into .mpv and .wav files. I have a main menu page that links to the video and scene selection menus. There are 3 scene selection menus. The scene selections are linked to chapter points that i set in dvd lab pro. I then go to the compile dvd option in DVD Lab pro and let DVD lab pro do its thing. The problem is, the compile dvd does not make any bup or ifo files. Thus when I go to burn the dvd with nero burning rom it gives me the warning that my files are not dvd compliant files. I burned anyway to see if the dvd would work in a dvd player and it doesn't. Does anyone know why DVD Lab Pro's compile dvd is not making these files? Here is the verification that DVD lab pro gives:

Which version of DLP are you running ?

Are you running under XP on hardware, or XP under parallels or virtual PC ?

No. I thought maybe you might have checked it by mistake and that's why the DVD failed to compile fully.

That 6-channel menu audio could be causing a problem. Try removing that audio to see if it helps. If that works, I would change it to 2-channel wav...

Start up DVD Lab Pro and open a project (new/old - doesn't matter). Click on Help -> About DVD-Lab Pro. It should open the splash screen and show you the version. It should say Version : Pro 2.??

It is the ?? that I am after.

When I import a movie into DVDLabPro, it demuxes to .mpv and .m2v files. A regular .wav file won't work for DVD. It must be converted to be compliant. Now you CAN take that .wav file and convert it to AC3. That will be equally compliant and should work just fine.

The second thing I'd try is to burn with or build a .iso file with IMGBurn instead of Nero. I've never had any luck with anything Nero.

Uh? Loads of compliant DVDs have pcm soundtracks. I only convert from .wav to AC-3 to save disc space.

Agree with the not using Nero. My copy of DVD Lab (2.18 ) has its own built-in burner which works perfectly well in most cases.

True, but when I think of standard .wav files, I think CD audio, which is 44.1Khz 16Bit. DVD needs 48Khz to work.

In the case outlined above, I don't know how or why DVDLab was demuxing to .mpv and .wav anyway. My version doesn't work that way.

Now if I try to feed DVDLab a .wav file alone (for a menu or something) it will pop an error message and tell me the file isn't compatible. It will then open the built-in audio transcoder and wait for my command. The conversion (just like demuxing) comes out to be .m2v.

So, where'd the .wav file come from?
