  1. Receintly I completed creating my first DVD in Adobe EncoreDVD. When I play the DVD on my computer everything is fine, but when I play it on my stand alone DVD player on my TV the sides of the menus get cut off. Any idea why this occurs and how I can fix it?

You have placed items of the menu outside the title safe/action safe area and into the overscan area. These haven't been cut off, but are obscured behind the bezel, or casing, of your TV. I don't use Encore, but I would be surprised if it doesn't have an option to turn on a title safe/action safe overlay to help you position your menu items to avoid this. Anything within the title safe area is almost 100% certain to be seen. Anything within the action safe area if at least 90% certain to be seen. Outside these areas, all bets are off.

I have messed around with encore before. It's a lot more work than most other dvd authoring programs which can do the same, but I'm pretty sure you can turn on the safe area box so you will know what will be seen for sure on your TV. Personally, I recommend DVDLab.

  4. Thanks for the advice. Only reason I like Encore is because it allows you to go into photoshop and customize out the menus and buttons to be pretty much anything. I will check out DVD lab and see if it offers the same.
