No Picture on .avi

Can someone help me please I have an .avi which plays in QT but I get no picture, only sound????

Has anyone else come across this??

What do i need to do to convert it and how??

Please help, I've tried everything obviously not the right thing. I can't be the only one who has experienced this.

I can open and play the movie with mplayerOSX but it won't play in QT

Don't mean to double post but any advise would be grately received.

Go get either the DivX or 3ivX codec and install them in Quicktime.

Will this allow me to burn it to DVD with FFmpeg then or just let me view it with QT?

1. you cant play divx in Quicktime without codex installed
2. MplayerOSX or VLC will play them perfectly with no codex installed and you shall have no problems what so ever

either way you will get them playing

Since it played in MPlayer you could use that as the decoder in ffmpegx without installing the codecs. With them installed you can view them in QT as well as use QT as your decoder.
