does anyone know a fix to this problem with TMPEGenc, i know that apparently panasonic's mpeg encoder will give a completly smooth mpeg - but i can't get this proggy to run for me
i have managed to iron out all the other problems that TMPEGenc has given me but now all i am left with is the slight jerking of the picture during fast action scenes or when the camera pans across a scene! this problem is definatly down to TMPEGenc as i have seen loads of other posts with the same problem on various other boards, but no definate replies to cure it!
my system info:
asus a7v 266fsb
athlon 1.4ghz 266fsb
512mb sdram
100gb hdd
32mb tnt2
i think that my system should definatly be able to handle this operation, and have tried different os's and pc's just in case, but the problem still exists
somebody please help me!

I get the same damn problem. I've learned to minimize it by sticking with a framerate of 29.7 but it's still there.

i always try to stick to 29.7 for ntsc and 25 for pal
this is so annoying as i've stuck with TMPEGenc through all the other problems it's given me, but this is the only one i can't cure!
i really don't want to try to get panasonics MPEG encoder to work, cos that will mean that for my movie encoding/conversion i will be using 5 different programs 6 if you include nero to burn the discs -
I see three possiblities.
1. Divx, in general, sucks. Most of the time, divx does a lousy job with motion. Use the highest processing level on the codec. Use the best divx decoder your system can handle.
2. Never, ever, ever convert 25 fps video to anything else in TMPGenc. Most video tools do a bad job of it because there's no elegant way to do it. Most of the time, they just double the 24th frame, resulting in jerky motion. Don't worry about 23.97/24fps to 29.97/30fps and back, there's a simple method which I don't understand.
3. Wrong field order. Change field order and try again. -
the original divx file plays fine (no jerkyness) so it's definatly happening during mpeg1 encoding
i could try the field order but i've seen in the other threads about this subject that it made no difference -
did you check your interlace? I have found that if I forgot to check progressive it will jerk. Also try running it thru Virtual Dub direct copy to make sure it's the correct frame rate, etc.
