    Hallo!
I am a total newbie to this, so forgive me if this is a stupid beginner´s question.
    I just converted a DivX/.avi File into a DVD (mpeg2enc), using FFMpegX 0.0.9y.
Everything worked fine, but when I use the MacOS DVD Player, the picture is jerking and stuttering. Using VLC everything is fine.
Burning the DVD, using a standalone player, the picture is again jerking and bucking up.

I used the following options (see image):
Do I need to change anything in the presets or options?

    please help!!!
    thx, Alexander

Most likely your AVI was 23.976 fps. DVDs with that framerate need a "3:2 pulldown" added for smooth playback on DVD players, including Apple DVD Player. To do so, use the "Set 3:2" (Wähle 3:2) checkbox.

Yes, it was. (see QT info)

I will try it immediately and let you know.

    What about the other options?
    Any recommendations?

    thx a million!

Other options seem okay as they are. But if you want to fiddle...

You may want to use the Autosize "DVD 16:9" setting, instead of "DVD" (=4:3) to make a widescreen DVD, as your source (624x335) seems to be approximately 16:9. Then you wouldn't need the Letterbox setting anymore.
As your source file has mp3 stereo audio, you could set the AC3 encoder to "224 kbps" and "stereo". The default "448 kbps" and "5.1 surround" don't improve anything.
You could set the video bitrate a bit higher, as 82 minutes at 6200 kbps would still fit on a DVD-R.
You could set Qmin to "2" to allow for slightly better quality where and when the bitrate allows it.

Ok, let me just say you are a great guy and a tremendous help.
I´ll try that and let you know how it worked out.
Since I am at work all day and all night and the following morning, I have enough time

Can I bother you with another question?
I tried a movie with 2 languages (2 audio tracks whcih are not selectable in Quicktime, but fine in VLC)), and the picture worked fine, but I am getting only 1 audio track (#1) in the fnal DVD.

Are there settings for this kind of stuff?

sorry again and thx a lot, I really appreciate it.

    Alexander

It can be done, but the process isn't as automated as a single audio stream would be. The Mux tool can put one video stream (m2v) and two audio streams (ac3) together for DVD, though.
