I have problem with my DVP642, it developed very thin white vertical lines
cross the screen. Seen on dark parts of the picture.
Is this on ly on my player ?
They are about 1/2 noticeble on DVD playback then on DivX.
( Tested S-Video, Video - same problem)

Since no one else has yet answered your post, I shall take a stab at it.
Sounds like your DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) chip has
problems. You can test this by checking the default screen
displayed when no DVD is inserted. Also check for any
interference - bad connections etc. -
That's the strange thing, the lines do apear only after the video stream starts. Even when the black screen with loading index apears the picture is clear but once the movie starts I get those lines.
Once again the problem is only visible on dark parts or when the movie is wide screen then it shows on those black stripes on top and bottom.
(Menu is also without lines and on DVD's those lines
look in higher density so they don't show that much) -
To my suprise when I upgraded to the latest firmware the problem is gone
I'm happy camper again !
