  1. I read this article https://www.videohelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm
and decided to make subtitles for a movie.
I used Subtitle Workshop in order to make the subtitles. I saved the file as a ssa file. I open the movie with Virtual Dub, extracted Subtitle Filter to the plugin in VD folder.
Opend Filter, selected the subtitler, and then i open the subtitle file i did.
I pressed play and i didnt see the subtitles on the movie.
what did i do wrong? cuz in the guide it showed the subtitles and i did the same thing.

    Thx in advanced

did you hit the play button with the I (input) or O (output)?

the filter has a preview button, i always use that to check my subs.

Did you use the right subtitler filter? There's one for .ssa only (Avery Lee's IIRC) and one for others like .srt
While you're at it, why not convert your srt to ssa and try again?

i never used subtitle workshop, i wrote the subs by hand in .srt format then used a SSA convertor and opened the .ssa with the filter in Vdub. can you open the .ssa file in notepad and paste the first screen or so of text?

Compare your non working sub file with the working file (Use Notepad or equiv) and try to spot any differences. If it's not something missing in the header, you might have "overlapping" (in time) subtitles somewhere...
