  1. Ok, so I'm kinda new to making VCDs and I used TSCV to create menus and chapters for my VCD. Once I burned it and put it in my DVD Player, I noticed two problems:

    1. The only way to start the movie was to press the number one on the remote. Pressing "Play" did nothing.
    2. There was no highlighting on the menu (like on most DVDs). Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks.

  2. 1. It would depend on how the VCD was authored. Assuming that "play" is mapped as the "default" button on VCD, you CAN author the VCD so that pressing "play" will start movie playback

    2. S/VCDs can't do that. That is a function of DVDs.

If you want to learn more on how the underlying VCD system works, I wrote up an article series here: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd

  3. Thanks. Now is there a way to set Play as default in XML Script? Where does it go in the XML Script, if it can be done? Thanks.

  4. I don't think I explained it well last time...

The only user customisable buttons that can be used on a VCD are: "next", "previous", "return", "default", and the numerical key presses (e.g., "1", "2", "3", etc).

On many/most DVD players, the "default" button is mapped on the remote control as "play". That is, anything that is referenced under the <default> tag should be selectable by pressing the "Play" button on the remote.

In my article series, there is an article which describes how the XML system works for VCDImager.
