  1. Hi,

I know a VOB file can be played using power dvd on the computer but can it be converted somehow to play as a VCD or SVCD, burnt to CD-R and be played in a stand alone DVD player?

If so I'd appreciate it if someone could point in the right direction.

    TIA,
    kwik

Sure, you can rip the VOB to HD, open it with an editor, and save it as an MPEG-1 (VCD) or MPEG-2 (SVCD or DVD).

Thanks for the reply. I've got the VOB files already on my HD. I'm looking but not havin much luck because this is all new to me and I'm not sure what to lok for. Can you give me a few more details about what editor to use, a basic walkthrough or point to a good how to?

    Many thanks,
    kwik

  6. Thanks once again for pointing me towards an editor or different editors to choose from. I've been reading the how-to's and different help manuals and I'm sure that this is going to be a trial by error process unless I get lucky right off. lol

Again, many thanks for the reply and have a nice day.

  8. the best way to do this is by ripping the dvd to your hd using dvddecrypter or smartripper.

then open the vob files using dvd2avi.
save the project to your hd.
load the project into tmpgenc or other encoding software and encode to vcd, or dvd compliant mpg files.

look for dvd to vcd guides for more detailed steps.

Does a bear shit in the woods ?

According to all reports, yes, yes it does.

In future please attempt to do some research in the form of a search or look through the guides section to the left.
