  1. Hi, i'm quite good (i think) when it comes to joining and splitting files but never edited a file. My problem is i have a divx file/ film and the film is great but in the black border on top of the picture their is a small grey line which i would like to remove or hide or colour black some how. Can someone please help me and direct me to the right tools and guides please. Thank you

  4. Not really any guide that I know of.
Realize that the FILL filter works in reverse of what you think.
Fill the screen with what you want to APPEAR, and whatever is NOT covered by the grey is what will be covered by black.
Once you have set your fill the way you want it, just click OK, then click OK again. Now you have the choice of saving it as an avi, or frameserving to your encoder.
If you're going to save it, select Video, Compression, and select a good codec. Huffyuv for high quality stuff, DivX or XviD for "who cares", but make sure you adjust the bitrate (in Divx) to it's highest setting (6000kbps), then click File, Save as AVI, give it a name and save.
Wait about 20 min, and you'll have a finished, filtered avi, with your grey line gone.

  5. if its a black border throughout the film (ie the widescreen border) why not apply the null filter in virtual dub and just remove the black border completely
theres no point in wasting filesize on a black border which the media player would add when you put it full screen
