  1. I got 81 small clips of my kids at various times over the last 4 years. I use DVDauthor and the its associated GUI. My question is what exactly is the best way to get these on (two) DVDs. I'd like to just have a name of the clip assigned to a number or something. It doesn't need to be anything too fancy, but that many titles on the screen at one time is way too much. Any ideas?

You have a few options. I haven't used DVD Author, so these may not be as applicable to that software.

    1. 81 seperate clips, each with it's own link, probably spread over several menu pages. 12 - 20 per menu would probably work, but it would be very crowded on a smaller screen.

    2. Link the clips one after the other, with a single entry point to the first one. They would then start at the beginning, and play sequentially to the end. You would only be able to jump in part way by using the remote to choose the title number, but the menu would be simple.

    3. Edit them all together into a single clip, or small number of longer clips, and use chapters to get to individual segments.

Some packages make some of these options easier than others. 2 and 3 would be easy to do in DVD Lab, for example.

  3. This can all been done with tmpgenc dvd author, are all of the clips already in mpeg format ? if not convert them with tmpgenc first then TDA and finally burn with a program like nero. Guides for all of these can be found on the left.
