  1. So far, I really like Disc Creator/Movie Factory. I haven't had audio sync problems with this, and there's many good features built in.
Problem I have is m main menus don't navigate - ie I can't arrow around to pick different titles to watch. Always have to start with the 1st title.
Is this something that will go away if I buy it? Didn't see this on their website.

  2. GrandPa, I think I know what you mean, but all I have is Movie Factory V2 instead of V3 so it may be a little different.

I think you mean you don't have a chapter selection menu. Ok, starting the program you simply click "DVD" then "Next". Then you 'ADD VIDEO'. Add a video then click on the little button labeled "Add/Edit Chapters". Move the slider to the point you want a chapter then click "Add" on the upper right side. You can use the standard play - pause buttons there also to position exactly where you want a chapter. When done click "OK"

For each video file you insert it will create a thumbnail and a link on the Main Menu page to that video. If you create chapter points and have the program set to create chapter menus then you will have a chapter menu for each of those clips showing all the chapter points you created (added) during that previous step.

Click "Next" and go to the preview project screen where you can watch and play your project. All the buttons should work and you should be satified that the project is like you want it before going any farther than this. To make changes to your layout click the "Back" button.

Is this something that will go away if I buy it?
I think the program is fully functional, so no, buying it won't change that part I don't think.

    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I made chapters - no problem. I have burned DVDs with 4 titles. On the Main Menu, Thumbnail links for each title are displayed. I can click them to start each with a mouse, but cannot access them by number or by arrow - which would be needed for a DVD player.

  4. I don't mess around with MovieFactory enough to know if the numbers and arrow keys not working will effect the final dvd or not. My suggestion is to go ahead and click through the program until you get to the 'OUTPUT' screen, then uncheck "Burn Disk" and check to "Only make Video_Ts Hard drive folders", choose a handy location for this folder, and let the program create it. After it's done use a software DVD player program like Cyberlink PowerDVD, or whatever you have, browse to the Video_Ts folder and play the Video_Ts.IFO file. That might give you a better idea of what it's going to look like on a TV. OR, burn the test project on an RW rewritable dvd disk, test it on your settop box, then erase the RW disk. You can do that over 1,000 times before wearing out the RW. I've got 1 I only use for testing.

    Best of luck

  6. Well, I just now jumped into MF2 and created a simple DVD, clicked on through the program (with mostly default values) and got to the player viewer. I could move around using the arrow keys or/and the mouse, but the number keys were greyed out and didn't work. The dvd would still function properly on a disk I think. It looked normal.

I'd get an RW disk and try your project on a settop box, then you'll know for sure. lol

    Good luck.

  7. I gave up on Ulead 3, and then 2, after 2 days. I never could get it to work on my standalone Koss.
TMPGEnc DVD Author worked, as did a few other crap apps (Sonic/Nero) that I tried.
I finally settled on DVDLab after using it for only a couple of hours, and promptly dashed off the extremely reasonable purchase price

Yes. I have MovieFactory 2 SE that came with the burner. Not bad but VEEERRRRRRYYYYY SSSLLLLOOOOWW. No AC3 support either.

Triying TMPGEnc DVD Author and FAST with AC3 support but the layout is horrible and modifying menus really bad. Also backgroud sound must be manually made.

Does DVD-lab support AC3, BG music, templates to quickly menu a DVD?
Thank You & Have a great Day! :)

Impossible. I never do anything wrong. I couldn't find any dialogs regarding menu function. I've been using customizable menus and didn't see any options regarding navigation. Will try again on my next burn.

  10. reman, AFAIK, DVDLab supports AC3, and it definitely supports BG music/audio, and lots of canned templates for quick if needed.
