  2. As long as the mpeg2 is dvd compliant then yes, but I would use a program such as tmpgenc dvd author and then use nero to burn.

Tell me Takovr, I have read (I believe) that Nero 6 can read and manipulate VOBs. Did you experiment with that?

I am thinking about buying Nero 6 Ultra in order to edit my family videos that were transferred to DVDs. I'd like to know if Nero 6 will do the trick. If it can, in fact, read VOBs and then burn back to DVD (or VCD for that matter) an edited version of my videos, that will be great.

Unless, of course, someone has a suggestion for a better tool to achieve that...

    Thanks.

Redd, I looked up the link you provided but that's not talking about importing VOBs for editing (adding menus, etc) but just burning the DVD once you've assembled the final VOBs you want. Right?

Using Nero Vision Express (part of Nero 6 Ultra) I've combined VOB, AVI, PAL and NTSC together onto one DVD. Untick the Create Menu Option, as it seems to cause some compatabilty problems anyway. NVE seems to get a bad rap, but it does it's job easily with decent results. I usually merge everything and manually add chapter stops. You also get a choice between Dolby 2 or LPCM audio.

Thanks MysticE. That's the kind of info I was looking for.
