  1. I have just built my system, motherboard, GeForce 8500 GT video card, 300 GB HDD, 2 GB RAM and BenQ 16X DVD+/- RW and Samsung DVD16+/- RW. Soundblaster Live, Running clean install of WinXP SP2,Windows Media Player 11. I installed Nero 7 Ultra and when I play any video format in WMP it freezes.

It used to Black and white only, but after much screwing around, replacing the video card driver, sound card driver uninstalling WMP re-installing WMP, uninstalling Nero 7, I finally get colour in the videos (all formats including XviD).

I re-install Nero 7 Ultra and it freezes in WMP and Nero showtime. The DivX Player works fine though, always has. I uninstall Nero 7 and it's all good except I cant Burn DVDs etc.

I like to download TV shows from abroad and would like to burn them onto DVDs to watch. DivX and normal DVD format.

Any suggestions to get this working or should I move to a different burning program. Again any sugggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Nero has been known to cause problems in the past. Ensure that you have all of the latest updates and patches from Nero. There are other more versatile players available, several free, such as VLC and MPC. Aside from that, you may consider downgrading to WMP 9 or 10.

  5. Try Nero 7 Lite only 15mb: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Data-CD-DVD-Burning/Nero-Lite.shtml
Its install only burn software without any codecs.
