  1. Is there anyone from the UK who has a WinTV Go (PAL) card and has captured good quality with it?
I seem to find irritating rolling bands when the scene has dark blue/mauve colours.

are you using the composite input or the tuner? I have the NTSC version of the card and all I use is the composite input and the quality is good. I have read on this forum that the tuners quality on the WinTVGo cards isn't that good...yeah here

I'm from UK and have got good results from the WinTV GO card. That said, I also only input from composite, but I've done SVCDs that come out great.

  4. Thanks guys.
I capture from VHS (all types of tapes - commercial/ telebroadcastusing)using composite and from the tv tuner. TV quality is obviously very dependent on reception. But both have a common fault: In scenes of dark blue there are rolling bands.
Nick - have you tried capturing scenes with dark blue/mauve?
I have tried everything the hauppauge tech support have told me- even removing PCI hardware that share IRQs.

It may be my motherboard - who knows. This is my setup:
    P2 400MHz - Gigabyte mobo=GA-6BXE
    256MB RAM
    AGP Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2MX
    Awe64 Gold sound card PCI
    ADI Microscan 5V monitor

It has nothing to do with AVI settings: the picture is crap when "live" using wintv2000.
I have tried various composite leads.
I tried capturing from from stills digital camera- same problem.

  5. had a similar problem.. my win tv card was in my first pci slot under the agp.when i moved the tv card to a different slot the problem went away. can't say if it will work for you but it's worth a go ( assuming your tv card is in the first pci slot )
