How to fix vidio and audio on old Avi

I got few old avi very pure picture and sound and i was wondering if is there any program that can redo and make vidio and audio in to let say good quality.Problem is this are very old movies and i could not find any other copies .Thank you all for your help.

Try Virtualdub, it has a lot of filter options and works well with AVI files. You can fine tune the color and the contrast, etc., and filter noise. As far as making it better, maybe. You can clean them up, though.
