  1. DVD Decryptor just gave me an error during ripping. Does anyone know how to iterpret this error?

I always copy in File mode. This is the first time I ever got such an error. It only occurs with one particular file. I also get an error when copying that file directly in Windows Explorer. The disc is clean.

I just tried opening the disc with DVD Shrink and it gives me this error:
    .
    Any idea?

    Thanks all

  4. No it's clean. It's a pretty new DVD with a near perfect surface. I took a close inspection under the light but can only see very subtle scratch here and there. It's nothing compared to other discs I've used.
Do you know what DVD Shrink referred to as "Cyclic redundancy check"?

I've gotten the "cyclic redundancy check" error on 3 different occasions. After cleaning the discs, I was able to rip one of them successfully, but had no luck with the other two no matter what I tried.

I've read in other threads that it could be a bad sector or mastering error on the original disc that causes the error message. That makes sense, although it seems like that would cause errors in playback also (both discs played fine).

Incidentally, both discs that I was unable to rip were identified by DvdDecrypter as Princos - don't know if that means anything or is just a coincidence.

  6. Bad disk.

Run it under Nero CD-DVDspeed (free) or DVDInfo(Pro) (sorta free).

    Then demand a refund.

  7. I'll try that Nero thing. I don't know if I can get a refund cause it plays fine on the players.

    Thanks folks.
I'm rather relieved that's it's not my computer.

I've actually run into this a number of times. Most times I'm able to get around it by selecting movie only files. Usually it's one of the menue, extra's, or that FBI blue warning screen that causes the problem. So selecting movie only will bypass it. The only time this has'nt worked was when I had a disk to scratched to rip.

  9. Yes, I was able to single out which file was the culprit. It was one of the chapter in the 2nd track.
I got lucky, cause DVDXCopy was able to burn just the movie on D1 and extras in D2 (which I skipped). Fortunately, the problematic file was part of the full screen version which I didn't want anyway.
In the end I got what I want.
