  1. Here's my problem. A friend has given me a DVD he made of his friends wedding. The video quality is good but the sound is awful, standrad camcorda issues such as hissing, pops, etc. I kow how to improve the quality on MPEG and MPEG-2 files but this DVD has been authored in .VOB files.

Is there anyway of me being able to fix the audio while still keeping it in .VOB format.
Extracting the audio, fixing that and than putting it back in.
    or
Converting the entire DVD into another format and then running it through TMPEGenc (the programme I normally use to clean up audio) to make a MPEG-2 file and burn it to DVD.

You might try to extract the audio, fix it, then remux it with VOBEdit. If that fails, then extract the video and audio to separate files. Fix the audio. Import both into a DVD authoring prog. Re-compile, then burn.
