  1. I've got about 15 AVI files (not sure how they were created, I downloaded them). I want to save them all on to one DVD, which should be possible based on their current size.

Guides on this site seem to imply I should convert to MPEGs first - do I HAVE to do this? What is the best route I should take?

If you want to PLAY them on a settop player, then you have to convert them. D/L AVI's are good for about 4 hours worth of DVD Video at 1/2 D1 resolution. That translates to 12 eps that are "1/2" hour each (20-22 minutes w/o commercials). 15 is doable with some work on the bitrate and simple menu.

That's all the further I'm going, you have a LOT of reading to do (you picked a medium/hard project to start out with, good luck on the Audio!!!).

The only way around it if you want to play on a standalone is to get a DVD player that plays divx, then make sure your avi's are divx encoded or re-encode to divx as necessary. Look up divx capable players in the DVD Players section <-<-<- over there.

  4. I just open nero & drag those files to the data window & nero does the rest. Might need the converter for it.
