  1. Just started got my card in and wired up and
i'm getting a good pic and good sound from my
    videos.
I'm using virtualdub and i'm getting it together, just
    for the sound.
    I get to this part
If both the left and right channels are displayed similar to the screenshot below, you've got stereo sound and are all set. Now you have to choose the desired volume by moving the volume slider to the appropriate position (the slider should almost always be to the very left). If the audio is missing completely, you should check the settings to verify that Line In is selected as the audio source.
The volume meter's reading nothing but when i have an mp3
on i can see the slightest increase in left and right, when i put
on a video and start the set up it reads nothing. I have the capture card
conected to line in on the sound card, any suggestions
I've only got onboard sound so i think i need a better sound card.

  3. Did you make sure your windows volume control is set to line-in and it stays there when you open your capture program.

Go to Volume Control\Properties\Recording\OK \ select line-in and keep that window open to make sure it does not change when you close your capture program and reopen it.

If your physical hook-up, Windows Control and capture software all agree it should record. Unless you reassigned your input on your sound card's software set-up to something else. If so change everything accordingly.

    Search Comp PM
If you are using XP or similar enter control panel. Find "Sound and audio devices". Click it.

Go to advanced and you should see all the volume sliders.

    Go to options properties.

    Select recording

Make sure all the volume controllers are ticked and press ok.
Make sure the volumes are up and selected either "what you here" or "Stereo Mixer" or equivalent.

You should now have audio appearing in your capture program.
