Just wondering if the following is possible. Can I capture multiple avi files, at one time, from a minidv camcorder, split them up and then encode them? I would like to be able to save each movie separately so when I go to build a DVD I can then choose which movies I would like on the DVD. I know I can sit at the computer and hit the stop button, which if that is what I have to do then so be it. Just curious.

You can split a DV capture into multiple AVIs at set time points, or by scene change according to the timecode on the tape, and probably other ways too. That may or may not give you exactly what you want. The other way to do it would be to capture one big AVI and split it with a simple editor which is fast and easy.
