As I do my homeworkand read up on previous posts I have noticed that many people often recommend using DVDDecrypter along with DVDShrink... Doesn't Shrink (v3.17) already HAVE a decrypter built in? Is there a reason or benefit to using DVDDecrypter's version instead?
I was under the assumption that Shrink could do it all, even burn to a copy if Nero was installed...
Currently, I have DVDshrink and Nero burning ROM 5.5.10.56 for my tools. Do I really need anything else, or am I missing something?
thanks for the help.

dvdshrink does have a ripper, but dvddecrypter does a better job on dvd's that are difficult to do, such as scratched dvds. Dvddecrypter was made to do one thing, and it does it very well.

As long as this stuff dosen't cost you anything it dosen't hurt to have SW in reserve. I have SW I use all the time, but at least once a month or so I need to break out rarely used SW just because something didn't "Play Well With Others"

No, technically you are correct. A lot of us have found that Decrypter is more dependable as a ripper on some discs than Shrink. Also, for DVD-5 Decrypter in ISO-Read, ISO-Write is simpler than using Shrink. Some also either don't have Nero, or don't like Nero.
Lately I've been ripping with Decrypter, Shrink with ISO output, and having Shrink autostart Decrypter. No need for Nero. I have Nero 5.5.10.xx and Nero 6 but I'm just not a big fan.
Your setup will work just fine. -

Pardon my inexperience... You are burning to DVD with Decrypter? I didn't know that Decrypter could burn as well - To do this would I have to download something additional when I go to the DVDDecrypter site? -
no, click on mode, then on iso, it'll have a choice to read or write an iso.

archaeo, Decrypter has always been able to read and write ISO (as ricky1756 mentioned). Comes in handy for DVD-5 movies. The current version of Shrink 3.1.7.5 now makes it possible to take an "all files" folder from Decrypter and perform the Shrinking as usual, AND when an ISO file is selected as output it offers the ability to start Decrypter automatically to burn the Shrink output ISO. Sweet stuff for those that can't find a burning program they like, or in my case just trust Decrypter when it comes to reading, decrypting, and burning.
