Whenever I burn with dvd decryptor I always select the burn speed that matches the burn rating of the dvd-r I'm using.
For example, if it's a 4X disc I will set it to burn at 4X. And 2X discs at 2X.
My question: If I select MAX as the burning speed in dvd decryptor, will it automatically burn at the discs max burn rating without passing it?
The reason I ask is because I know sometimes good 4X media from a good brand can sometimes be burned at 6X or more. I want to make sure dvd decryptor wont pass the discs max burn rating by me selecting MAX as the burn speed.

Most Burners will check the media and burn according to the compatibility of it to the speed. Sometimes when you force it to a specific speed, the media itself might not burn well because of some possible defects.
I Suggest you put it on MAX and let the Burner select the speed.Email me for faster replies!

Mob,
I set Decrypter and Shrink to burn at what I want. I have a Plextor 708A and it will burn 8X on Verbatim 4X if I don't hold it down. I actually had Nero decide to burn at 6X on one. Not sure where the hell he got that but it was on a Memorex 4X and I don't trust Memorex 4X much past 2.4X (+R).
My Sony burner 4X seems to pick the right speed all the time but with the media market being so hit and miss lately, I'd just as soon control the burn. As I mentioned, sometimes I run across deals like the Memorex RW 4X for less than a buck and I know they are good at 2.4 so I buy them. Usually it's TDK, Fugi, or Verbatim which I trust at 4X but not quite yet at 8X everytime. I guess my current philosophy is to buy the highest speed I can afford, and burn one speed lower. -

I Doubt it will burn higher then the Certified Speed, Unless it finds the disc to be compatible with higher speeds
