  1. Anybody managed to get this DVD writer working with -R Media
    having a nightmare it will only work +media
    Spent 40 quid on media and it just chucks it out.

    I have upgraded to the latest firmware.

  3. It's a rebadged Optorite DD401. I have the Opto, but never tried with -R. I mention all this because some rebadged drives can take OTHER brands' firmware. I don't know if the newest Opto firmware will work in your drive, or if it will help your problem. Just thought I'd mention it.

  4. I purchased this drive 2 weeks ago and burned 3 -R sucessfully!

    So far, I am liking this drive!

  5. I have this drive and I am burning DVD-R and DVD-RW discs without ANY problems. My DVD player (Toshiba) will only eat DVD-R and DVD-RW discs so I have not even burned DVD+R/RW discs yet, but the DVD-R/RW discs work fine.

    I have been using Memorex DVD-R 4x media and Memorex DVD-RW 2x media if that helps you anything.

    I bought one about a month ago. Burned 3 -R disks and none of them would play in any of my 3 DVD players. They wouldn't play in anything except the burner. It went back to the store.
