My Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7 has a 4 pin firewire input, I connect my Sony camcorder using 4pin to 4 pin firewire cable but the laptop does not detect the video camera.
I have no problem detecting my camcorder by my desktop with Windows Vista Home Basic. Please help !!!!

Windows 7 is factory pre-installed on my Sony Vaio laptop, I just bought it brand new, mainly because of firewire 4pin (i-link) input. As I mentioned it worked with no problem on my desktop which has Windows Vista. This is my first time trying get it working on my laptop with Windows 7 (never tested it on Windows 7 before).

Bought a branded 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable from BestBuy for $33. Worked perfect, detected by laptop right away. Sometimes the more you pay, the more quality you get, thanks for replying you all, guys, Merry Christmas !!!
