Tmpg Vs Cinema Craft Encoder but all vs "small transcod

Hello !
I'm using DVD2svcd method to backup some scratched dvd's... cause fast transcoders suckz ...the quality is awful
So i'm trying to use something more "professional" like tmpg or CCE
and both of them as better quality then any "fast transcoders" in the net .
But i really want to know which of them is the best
btw the best version of cce is 2.50 ??? is this true?

... oh i forgot to tell that i have all the time in the world to wait till the conv. is finished

when you purchase cinema craft , you will not get version 2.5 .. nor is it the best version .. it is also $1995 .. while tmpgenc is $60


there is also cinema craft basic -- but really for the money tmpg is a extremly good buy, for all the extra tools it comes with .. so is main concept .. specialy for re-encoding mpeg

Man, this has been one of the most popular questions that I have seen posted in this forum. If you type in CCE vs. TMPGE in the forum search you can see some multi-hread discussions on the subject.
I personally like CCE now only because I found it to be faster from start to finish. TMPGE in my opinion gave better quality but it was too slow using all of the best quality settings that were recommended to me. I suggest trying them both and making your own decision.

I would go with TMPG. You really can't be its quality when you know what
you are doing. It's not a matter of taking someones' template, though some
times, it works, but not always.
You are better off learning how to use TMPG and tweak it then anything else.
I've spent many years with TMPG, and I always seem to come back to it.
Right now, I'm also testing out another encoder (a command-line encoder)
and it's not so bad, but at this current time in testing, I would not sell it. Anyways..

I so much happier w/ TMPG than cce but cce is good too.. just costly. I don't,
I repeat, I don't use CCE (other than for testing and comparison purposes)
because as I've said a moment ago, TMPG is it. You just gotta learn how to
use it and open it's features etc etc. If you are not up to this step or just too
lazy (that's ok too) or just want an easy encoder (quicker response here)
than I would recommend sticking with TMPG :P

if you know what you are doing with CCE the results will be better and the process is faster. ...to each his own.

I prefer using AviSynth scripting and CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER aka CCE because of the speed and the fact that my analog captures are in YUV format and that is the format that CCE works in whereas TMPGEnc uses RGB mode.

Both produce output that I can't tell apart. CCE is much faster though.

I still use TMPGEnc especially when needed to resize "oddball" resolutions like you find in some DivX and Xvid clips.

But apart from the fact that TMPGEnc does resizing for you when it might otherwise be tricky to calculate otherwise ... well I just don't hardly use it no more.

Do you ever use FitCD to resize the oddball reolutions. It gives you the right numbers to plug into your avisynth script and the aspect ratio is maintained. I use it for DivX and Xvid everytime. It's a great little program.
