i used windv to capture my old vhs tapes of home movies. i ran it through my sony dv camcorder. my question is ive got about 15 short movie clips. instead of the whole tape going on the hardrive all in one file, ive got about 15 different files. it captured fine but now i need to either redue it or find a program that can put all those files together. so how do i set it up so it doesnt do that anymore. i look in the config and i dont undersstand what is in there.
also once i get this figured out what program should i use to put this file on a dvd or even a cdr. im just trying to get my old home movies out of the tape format before they loose anymore quality.
is there a tuturial somewhere on this site that i can check out? something that tells me step by step how to capure and then put it on a disk and anything else in the middle that i have missed, thanks in advance.
dog.

windv splits the files into segments due to the preset file limit. Go into configuration and set the frame limit to the highest possible, I dont know how long this is(10-30-50 min?). If it still clips the video, then I would suggest you try another caputer program like VirtualDub or Free VCR. Try different ones out and see wich one you like. Once you have your AVI then just put it into TMPGEnc and select VCD or DVD and convert it to mpeg or mpeg2(dvd). You can check out some of the step by step instructions on the guides or conversion page of this site (AVI TO DVD or (s)VCD). Hope this helps

You can use VirtualDub to edit and then join each clip. But, if those WinDV files are consecutive, you can use the 'Append AVI' option in VirtualDub to create one huge file from your many smaller ones.
If you do this, and you are not running NTFS file system (Win2000 or WinXP) you cannot save the .avi file because it will exceed the 2GB/4GB filesize limit. You can frameserve it through TMPGEnc and create your final MPEG file that way.
