  1. Hi!

I want to put three DivX movies onto one authored DVD. The three movies are around 700Mb each. I know how to create the menu using TMPGEnc Author, and know how to convert one DivX to DVD using TMPGEnc. I thought I could use VirtualDub to merge the three DivX files before I let TMPGEnc convert the big file to MPEG2, but VirtualDub refuses to merge them because the "streams have different sampling rates". How else can this be achieved?

    Thanks very much.

There's no need to merge them. The Authoring process will let you deal with multiple files just fine.

Your best bets to actually do this are to use:

    1) 352x480 interlaced, with a bitrate in the 2000-2500 range, and a max of 4000(if they are 23.97 sources, you can use 3:2 pulldown).

    2) 352x240 progressive with a bitrate around 2000(29.97 conversion needed).

You are looking at 4+ hours per DVD, so the maximum resolution you can use is 1/2 D1.

  3. You don't need to merge them. If you convert the files to MPEG2 DVD compliant, just author them as separate titles on one DVD (assuming they'll fit). The result is not likely to be acceptable at full DVD resolution if your intention is cramming 6 hrs in.

EDIT: Gazorgan beat me to it. Listen to him, good advice.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
