Out of Sync problems when changing Bit Rate?

File captured from VHS suing Hauppauuge PVR2 USB. Captured bt rate is 8000kbps, (Video) & 384kbps (Audio). After editing movie I then create movie by writing DVD format to my HD. Studio 9 says my movie is too big for the disc even tough it is only 3.58 gb, (My DVD should fit 4.7gb!) Anyway I have to change setting from best quality, (8000 kbs / sec)to Auyomatic so that the DVD fits, (it should have fitted at 8000!)Changing to Automatic drops the bit rate to 7250. If I then make mopvie the sync is well out bu up to 30 secs.
If I then select custom & keep bit rate to 8000 but reduce audio rate from 224 to 192 the file fits on to a DVD. If I then make movie I have NO problems. So my 2 main questions are:-

1. Why does lowering the video bit rate cause OOS errors?
2. Why does Program say video file is too big even though it is only 3.58gb?

I would try another authoring tool...like tmpgenc dvd author, dvd-lab.

1). This will cause the movie stream to be re-encoded. To do this it will be de-multiplexed from the audio, losing any 'time stamp' info used to sync the two audio to the video stream. Any dropped frames in the capture or other errors in the video stream will cause the loss of sync.

2) Dunno, maybe it wants to re-encode the audio to LPCM (uncompressed)

Ah, but the Size after the "Make DVD" process is still only 3.58gb. HELP!
