    I would like advice on what to use as far as a mic and a preamp to do voice overs.I read that a shure 58 mic is good quality.I am not to sure about preamps.Can anyone suggest any or where to find the answer?I have looked all over for answers.Please help.

    how serious are you?

    if you want a really good preamp, be prepared to drop $300 or more... there are some that start around there, and then you quickly climb into the thousands. If you just want something that will interface with your soundcard, pick up the smallest Behringer mixer (like a 4 or 6 channel), it should be well under $100. That will accept a regular microphone jack (XLR) and give you a line-level output you can run to the soundcard.

    same with mics - the Shure 58 is okay, I've never been thrilled with them. If you have a preamp with phantom power, you can get an Oktava 319 for about $99 that sounds really good for voiceover.

    And if Goldwave doesn't support VST plugins, you should check out Audacity - supports VST, and there's tons of good free VST plugins on the net to tweak your audio...
