  1. I am able to capture with this card at up to 352 x 288 resolution, yet whenever i attempt to cap at higher resolutions i get
    Error 418: Unsupported Video Format.

Can anyone advise me how to get around this problem? Thanks in advance.

  2. your leadtek card uses WDM drivers.. which limits virtualdub's capture size abilities.

If you don't prefer leadtek's own PVR s/w but still want larger frame sizes, you might look at WDM complaint capture apps such as iuvcr, virtualvcr, etc.

The virtualdub 1.4.13(build14328) uses wdm driver plus it opens mpg2 files,i use it with my geforce 4ti 4200 and it captures up to 720x480.

  4. can't get PVR to work properly, and now whenever i try to cap with it the program hangs after i press the halt record button. IUVCR drops frames like crazy and the framerate goes down on higher resolutions, and VirtualVCR doesnt seem to work at all; every 3 seconds or so on video playback there is huge frameloss. Sucks to be me

Virtual VCR and virtualdub work a lot better with the drivers from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

The only downside is that the Leadtek PVR program won't work anymore. I'm using those drivers with the same card you have and virtual vcr capturing at 720x480

  8. Johns0: I tried virtualdub 1.4.13(build14328). Where can I find a modified version of this?

  9. The inability to capture on a Leadtek vid card beyond 352 x 240 in VirtualDubMod or any variant thereof is a well known problems with
the Leadtek / VirtualDub combo. There is no workaround.
I have a Leadtek card myself and solve this problem by avoiding
capturing with Virtualdub. Instead, I use the supplied Leadtek PVR
software. NOTE: don't use the included DV encoder iincluded with
the Leadtek PVR software. It looks like crap. Either use an external
codec (Panasonic, Mainconcept, etc.) or Huffyuv (if you have the
    disk space).
If you absolutely positively *must* cpature using VirtualDub,
spend another $50 and get the Hauppauge Win TV vid cap card.
The Hauppauge is designed from the ground up to work with
VirtualDub and _will_ capture in Vdub @ 720 x 480.
Roughly 50% of the problems reported on this website result
from VirtualDub's antiquated WDM drivers. 'Twould be nice if
someone somewhere would do a ground-up rewrite to fix this.
On the other hand, as Bruce Sterling has pointed out, for end
users to complain about open source freeware is about like people
with diamond rings on their fingers complaining about hte
    glamorous lives of diamond miners.

Trust me don't spend $50 on another card. Just install the Btwincap drivers and your problems are solved

  11. I downloaded and installed the btwincap drivers. Playback was very slow in any capture program i tried, as if the drivers had lowered the frames/sec. Any comments on why this happens? Source was a VHS tape which I was able to cap at 320 x 240 with normal drivers at 25 frames/sec.

  12. disregard the last post. I am now able to capture at the higher resolutions, but I have no audio. Is there anything I need to do to receive audio, as audio was working fine before installation of wincap drivers. According to device manager, the bt audio capture driver is installed.

Double check to make sure that "line in" is selected as the source in the audio options with whatever capture program you are using.

Also in Virtual VCR make sure the "Capture Audio" box is checked in audio options or in Virtualdub - Capture -> Settings... -> the same box is checked.
