    tmpgenc
    vcdeasy

so far i have had very good results with this setup. i have heard alot of people talking about virtualdub and i was wondering if there was any benefits or advantages of using it with the setup i have or if it would be better to use instead of the setup i had. i am sorry for the ignorance on this software, just not sure exactly what it is for. any advice or suggestions would be helpful. thank you.

For your purposes Vdub is not needed. I use the exact progs as you.

VirtualDub mostly comes in when you want to filter the source somehow, like adding permanent subs, or when your source is AVI.

    benefits of virtualdub?
...ideal for capturing analogue footage using a capture card (such as an ATI Radeon ViVo) to AVI (via a codec).
