Load it into TMPGEnc Plus. Select Load, choose the template. Select filename of your finished video. Press Start. When done, the new file should be (S)VCD compliant, depending on which template you selected.

will this file play in Mplayer? If so there may be a chance of doing this conversion.

Yeah, once you start slumming, you cannot just "turn it off". It's like a cold. You have to let it run its course.

ASF to VCD. Have fun with that. The only way I was ever able to accomplish that was to use VPC.

  11. I'm not euro but I am interested in this topic. I have some .asf files I'd like to convert to, well, anything other than .asf and they do open in MPlayer.

  12. ffmpegX should be able to decode ASF to SVCD. Select SVCD preset and enable "Decode with mplayer" in the Options.

ffmpegX will do it if Mplayer can play it.

dont you just love ffmpegx. Maybe when we finally hit v1.0 it will be able to run our entire lives for us

  15. Wow! Thanks for the responses.

Major, I have played it sucessfully with audio in VLC, and with ffmpeg the video does play with mplayer but there is no sound.

So I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

    What should I do?

  16. Try to select audio track = 1.

  17. Yep, that worked major, I now have the audio.

So I set the wizard to SVCD and go?

In the save as portion is this specifying a directory? or filename?

    Thanks Euro

  18. Major,

    I have hit a snag....

I got a framereate error when using the SVCD wizard and selecting the audio track=1 and mplayer decode....it said only standard frame rates can be used with mpeg2enc engine....defaulting to NTSC FILM then it seemed to hang the program (did nothing for a long time).

The info on the file is:

    Video [1VMW] 320x240 24bpp
    audio codec: framecopy (format=161 chans=2 rate=44100 bits=16 bps=8005 sample=1487)

I am not too sure how to set up ffmpeg to process this file....any help would be appreciated as always.

    Cheers,

    Euro

Sorry. I posted a question to this original thread, and then after searching and searching, I found the answer. If I had been able to delete the post outright, I wouldn't have bothered you at all.
