    Hi,

I usually encode all my AVI files into Mpeg-2 using TMPEnc with that little tutorial here. I then burn them onto SVCD with NTI CD Maker 6.5. Before I had no problem burning a SVCD and playing it in my Go Video DVD player. But for whatever reason it no longer plays any of the SVCDs I make now. I'm encoding them the same way and burning them the same way but it just won't play. The weird thing is that my DVD player will play the older SVCDs I made. Anyways I checked to see if the newer SVCDs were bad burns or anything by playing them on my computer through WinDVD and it played fine. I'm really lost and don't know what to do so any help would be appreicated. Thanks!

Quick EDIT: I sort of realized that this post could be in the playback forum. Sorry I didn't realize this earlier and I can't figure out how to delete the post.

NTI uses a non-standard directory structure for SVCD,it uses a "Karaeoke" sub-directory for example. Some DVD will refuse to play SVCD burned with NTI. Try NERO.

Cool I'll try that. I have Nero 6.3 right now but one quick question. When I choose to burn SVCD and I clicked on the campatibility tab I have a few options. It says I can burn with MPEG2 or MPEGAV and also EntryVCD or EntrySVD. WHich should I take? Or should I just take the standard one. I'm not sure what these options actually do. Thanks

  4. What has changed on your system? SOMETHING is different. Codecs or software installed, new hardware, different media. Isolate the change and you will most likely discover the problem.

    maybe it's a specific setting?
i don't know the tool but i think it should be mpeg2.

i don't think extra directories should make a difference, as long as the files which are needed are there.
Music was my first love, and it will be my last

They will make a difference depending on the player; different players play w/ diff. directories.

Ok well some of the CDs burned with Nero worked but I actually bought a new DVD player which is supposed to support SVCDs and everything worked fine. Nothing wrong with TMPGenc or NTI. Just my DVD player sucks! Anyways don't waste your money with Go Video stuff, I hate that player! I have myself a new Cyber Home player. Anyways I think I'm going to go back to bruning SVCDs with NTI. For some reason Nero crashes my comp. Well it just keeps burning and the program freezes on me. Usually at like 99 or 100% when it is emptying the read buffer. I'm using 6.3 and I have never liked version 6 at all. It just seems to buggy. Anyone else have any issues with Nero? 5.5 was really good but the whole ver 6 sucks so bad. Ugh! Well thanks for all the help!
