  1. First off great site which has helped me big time for a lot of things. What i was wondering is what's the difference between VR Mode and Video mode and when should i set my Pioneer 310-s to which mode? Is it a matter of opinion or does one have the advantage over the other in certain recording situations? Thanks for any help.

  2. In short, Video mode is compatible with most DVD players but is not editable. In contrast, VR mode is not very compatible but is editable.
When you feel that nobody loves you, nobody cares for you, everyone is ignoring you, and people are jealous of you, you should really ask yourself... Am I TOO sexy?

    Hi Philip, please explain.
I thought a dvd-rw would have to be in video mode to manipulate ( add chapters, edit, etc.) on my computer and reburn the polished product to dvd-r.

  9. No you can edit directly on the disc in VR mode in a PC. Alternatively you import the titles you would like, add chaptert to your hearts content, then create a DVD Video disc on +R or DVD-R.
Is the -/+R disc that is created in VR mode or Video mode, or do you have the choice?

I'm trying to figure out a way to create a scene selection from my old tapes (without starting and stopping the recroder), so I need to use VR mode and add (split) chapters. However, I didn't know what to do afterwards to make put it on an "R" disc in DVD-Video mode. The Ulead software does that?

    Thanks,
    brian

  12. use Ulead MovieFactory3 to import the titles
PhilipL, first I'd like to thank you for your help. However, for some reason I can't get what you are suggesting to work. If I record using VR mode and add (split) chapters, I can't play or edit the disk using Ulead MovieFactory 3 (trial version- supposedly full version w/ 30 day usage) using my Sony DRU-510A or my Pioneer DVD-ROM.

I get the following error when I try to play or edit the disk:
    No initialization.
    Capture failed.
The created file is corrupt and unusable.
    It will be automatically deleted.

When trying to edit, I click on "Create Video Disk" then choose "DVD-VR" (I tried "DVD" also, and that didn't work either).

Thanks again for your help with this.

You're forgetting DVD-RW VR mode, the first format to use VR.

  14. What about this ? Can this be a reason ?
This Trial Program has the following limitations:fewer menu templates, frames, buttons, and background videos. In addition, there is no Dolby Digital AC-3 support in the trial version.
