  1. What DVDR media would you suggest to use with the NEC 2500A? Who to buy it from for the best deal?

Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

Here's some media that I tried on my NEC 2500a with 106 RPC1 firmware mounted in a USB 2.0 external case.

Pioneer PVCR001002 (4x -R) and these were identified as 8x by Nero and DVDderypter. Very good media but next to impossible to find since pioneer no longer sells media in my area. Expensive!!!!!

Memorex RICOHJPNR01 (4x +R) and these were identified as 6x by Nero and DVDderypter and burned at 6x. This media burns at 8x in my Plextor 708a. My preferred media. Affordable.

Maxell RICOHJPNR01 (4x +R) and these were identified as 6x by Nero and DVDderypter and burned at 6x. Identical to Memorex but a little more expensive.

RiData (Ritek) RITEKG04 (4x -R) and these were identified as 4x by Nero and DVDderypter and burn at 4x. Normal media used in my Pioneer A05 and NEC 2500a, affordable.

Memorex RICOHJPNW11 (4x +RW) and these were identified as 4x by Nero and DVDderypter and FAILED to burn on the 2500a. They worked fine in Plex. My normal +RW media and fast for RW media at 4x on Plex. Good for test burns.

Pioneer PVCW00V00245 (2x -RW) and it was identified as 2x by Nero and DVDderypter and burned at 2x. Came with my Pioneer A05, good RW media but next to impossible to find. Use on A05 and 2500a.

Verbatim MCC 00RW11N9 (1x -RW) and these were identified as 1x by Nero and DVDderypter and burned at 1x (slow, use for data bkup only)

Now I wish I can find some cheaper -R media that will burn at 8x on the 2500a and being in Canada, my selection is limited.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Unless you only ever plan to read the media back in your recorder, make sure it will work in all your target devices before you buy media in bulk. You could be disappointed to find out that just because you could record to a disc doesn't mean you can subsequently get the data off of it again. There are some very fussy devices out there...

  5. I use RITEKG04 (4x -R) white inkjet printable, without any problems. I'm getting a pack of prodisc white inkjet printable soon, so I'll you let know the results on those.
