i have recently converted some avi movies using virtualdub, Tmpgenc2.5, Tmpgenc dvd author and pinnacle data cd to burn. the problem is that they will play on certain dvd players that are region 2 but not on other region 2 players. can anyone help?
the other confusing thing is that a friend of mine uses the same software and same pioneer 105 dvd drive to make his movies and yet his will play on players that mine won't. aaaahhhhggggggrrrrr!!!!!

I do remember reading about burning DVD to a higher compatibility between DVD players by using the UDF 1.02 format, as opposed to UDF 1.05. The 1.02 is for older DVD players, but can be read by the newer ones as well.
