i have several video editing programs including adobe premier, pinnacle 8,uleadvideo editorand moviemaker.
i have short clips, what i would like to do is have video in middle of screen, and 2 blank/black bars either side such that i can have rolling text in there to indicate what is being said by whom (right or left) as they speak.
anybody have any ideas?
i looked on web at Serious magic and yes something like that but wondering if i can do it without having to buy yet another editing program
thanks

Ulead Video Studio would work for me. I would have the subtitles on the main track, and the main video on the Overlay track.

That is why you use the Overlay tracks in addition to the main track:
Of course, it's your project, so do what you want.Hello.
