  1. I have made a few backups od my dvds but when I play them sometimes there get alittle fussy or blurry and freezes flr a second or two. Quality is pretty good but sometimes I see little squares. Is it because I am watching it on a big screen tv and its streeching the video? Im using dvdshrink. Please help me on how to get the best quality picture.

  2. It sounds like you compressed your movies quite a bit. Less compression will make those "little squares" less noticeable.

Do you remember how much you compressed the movie?

  3. I dont remeber what the compression was. I do know it was set to automatic so dvd shrink did it automatically. I was going to reauther it but if i put the menus and take out so extra junk first then the movie will it play normal? Or will you be able to tell its all out of order? Also what is a good compression that will make the picture look good? Is it the higher the number the better or lower...?

  4. If you reauthor, the menu will not function. The movie will work perfectly, you can even add x-tras after the movie, but they will be treated like any other chapter and will play once the movie is done, unless you put the x-tras first.

I don't go below 70% on DVD Shrink. In other words, I only compress the movie 30% max, from the original.

If you use auto, DVD Shrink will fit the entire movie on one disk, and depending on the length it can compress it to 40% or less. Which means your compressing the movie by 60%+, of it's original quality.

So to answer your question the higher the % shown, the better the quality.

I like a working menu, so I remove the extras with IfoEdit, and then compress if I need to, with DVD Shrink.

question: i did compress the extra's quite alot(almost to the maximum)... however, is it normal to be more blurry one split second, then more clear the next split second, then back to blurry, and so on? it wont stay the same print...

  6. Yes, with too much compression.

Try DVD stripper, it's free now, and you can remove some of the xtras so you don't have to compress as much.
