I've looked all over the internet for a way to convert my m2ts files into something useable by Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and I know there are ways, I just didn't understand them or wasn't able to get it to work on my computer.

I have VitrualDub and VirtualDubMod as well as SUPER and Cyberlink's PowerDVD (though I do not know what version, it's somewhat old)

Could someone explain to me how to covert the .m2ts files with minimal quality loss so that I can edit them on Premiere and then burn the finished project at DVD quality?

    Thanks

first i don't know if pp1.5 supports HD resolutions at all, it may be too old. second without knowing the source and specs of the ts it's hard to guess what might help. but, HDTVtoMPEG2 can convert most HDts streams to a usable mpeg-2.

This is from my Sony Handycam.
The software that came with the camera allows me to convert it to mpeg2, but it's as though I'm not even using the HD capabilities.

I once had a trial of a program that included everything necessary to edit the files on PP1.5, (it was like a 3rd party expansion) except it was a trial and the software was $1500 at the time! I'm looking for a free alternative.
Plus the trial left a large watermark. It must be possible because I've done it before (that was 6 months ago), I would think by now someone has figured some alternative out....

We need a model number for the camera, but in the absence of one I would suggest that it only records SD mpeg-2 in the m2ts container, and the software provided simply extract this to an mpg programme stream.

You'll have to rename your files from .M2TS to .MTS

Also, SoopaFresh. When I run _multi_demux_mts.bat it doesn't create an avs file...
