  1. other tapes have captured fine but one I have looks fine on camcorder and in capture screen but when i stop capture I get a white band in the middle 2/3 of the screen this was recorder on a different cam corder than the ones I have had success with. This white band extends beyond the black borders of the capture. Tried other capture programs same effect.

    Anyone have any Ideas see the snapshot attached

    Don't know if this is related, but here goes... I have the exact same problem with a VCR that I occasionally use at work. The white band appears only with OSD turned on (on screen display such as time,frame,etc...)and also will appear while auto tracking. Not sure if your camcorder has these settings, but worth a look.

    This is how the GeForce cards (and similar) handle Macrovision, by putting the white band on anything captured that has the Macrovision signal.

    Unfortunately this is also triggered by poor or non-standard video signals - the tape in question may have some glitches at the beginning which is triggering the Macrovision detection.
