  1. I notice that the later versions of MyDVD (version 5.2 middle/high end for example) now supports AC3 audio encoding for what appears to be a cheap price. How does this AC3 encode compare with the other dolby licensed encoders, such as Vegas 4 +DVD, or DVD Workshop or any other current offerings with AC3 encode?

If you can put up with the limitations of MyDVD in general, sounds like the new AC3 vs old PCM would be a good thing, and you wouldn't be bothered by any incompatibilities of BeSweet.

Tried ver 3.5 and it corrupted so many other dll files and the uninstall left a ton of stuff. Tech support directions of "clean" uninstall included manually altering registry and such.

I would have to read a TON of positive posts before I would try that or any other Sonic product. IMHO, once bit, twice shy!!

I was using DVDit PE for quite a while, and it encodes to DD 2.0. The results were good, but it took upwards of 90 minutes to build a DVD. I recently purchased TMPGENC DVD Author with the AC-3 plugin. I have switched to it permanently, as it supports better the captures from my PVR-250, and it automatically makes chapter menus (which in DVDit you have to do manually, a total PAITA). Plus, the amazing thing is it is FAST, at least for me. It converted a 4.3 Gb file to DVD with AC-3 in just over 20 minutes!
