  1. I'm having trouble finding a free burning program to burn DVD-video to DVD -R. I use DVD Shrink to rip to hard disk (what a great program!), ending up with video_ts and audio_ts folders. I gather nero 6 won't do it without their DVD plugin (which costs). I tried Record Max Now, but even after the upgrade it wouldn't recognise my pioneer 106D burner. DVD decryptor wants to burn image files?

    What do people recommend next?

    Cheers, Gimp.

I think Nero's DVD Video plugin just includes the encoding components - MPEG 1/2 video encoding and AC3 audio. It's supposedly included in their 6.0 "Ultra" edition.

Just to burn a DVD you don't need that. A video DVD is actually burned the same way as a data disc. I haven't used Nero much so off the top of my head I don't remember exactly how to set it up. But I think if you take the "guides" link and search for guides to Nero Burning ROM you'll find the settings you need.

The system I am using now is Autoshrink ISO>DVDshrink>DVDdecrypter to burn. All freeware, all latest versions of the programs. Works great with my Pioneer 106. If you have both a DVD ROM and a DVD burner, you just put your original in the ROM and your blank in the burner, start Shrink ISO, set your DVDshrink parameters, and you are done. It burns the disk and shuts off the computer.
