  1. I've recently started having a lot of problems getting my DVD burner to burn data disks (for some reason, I haven't had trouble w/ the last few ISOs I've burned -- perhaps it was because they were smaller?)..

    The error is:

Error -10 at Sector 2192256 - Disc Write Error - Command:2A Sense:03 ASC:0CASCQ:08 (error it gave for my last try w/ Accu media) -- waited till near the end of the burn. It just gave me: "Error -10 at Sector 102032 - Command:2A Sense:05 ASC:21 ASCQ:02" when I tried w/ a DVD+RW disc (it died quickly) When I try it in Nero, the error says "Invalid Block Address" (more @ bottom of message)

I have a Sony DRU-500A. I just tried upgrading from 1.0F to 2.0G to see if a firmware update would make a difference.

The same media (ACCU) burns fine on my GF's Polaroid burner and has been working for me for a while..

I've tried burning at 1X and 2X - same problem. I also tried burning using Nero instead of Recordnow and it also failed.

Also, I have a strange problem where Win XP doesn't always detect it when I put disks in the drive. Rebooting will fix it. What is strange if I run the "media info" section of one of the burners or even the disk manager in XP, it can tell that there is a disk in. I don't know if it has something to do w/ not coming back alive after a suspend...

  2. Nero isn't the most stable of programs, I've discovered. You could check the FAQ on the Nero site. They have had plenty of issues.
Your problem may already be posted.

I would completely uninstall nero. After uninstalling from "add remove programs" I would do a search for Nero and remove everything you find. Also search the registry for Nero/Ahead, and remove as well. Then reinstall Nero.

  3. I found some info @ google posted by someone else having similar problems. I ran an application called "nero-cleantool" and then downloaded the latest Nero from the site. I am now able to burn w/ Nero. I haven't tried it again w/ Recordnow -- but maybe there was some sort of a DLL issue?...

I mailed with Recornow staff about error -10, they said it can be buffer underrun or crappy media. in my case it was crappy media.
    Hope this helps

  5. I think I've had steppin_razor's same problem, where near the end of the burn Nero consistently (every DVD) gave errors starting with "Invalid Block Address".

I tried reinstalling Nero, using the "nero-cleantool" app, AND removing anything w/ Nero or Ahead from the registry -- none of it worked for me.

Here's what did work: System Restore (WinXP). I restored past a point where I'd installed InstantCopy version 8.0.3, so that may well be what had started the problem.

BTW, one way to get to it is Startmenu --> Accessories --> System Tools.

    Cheers.
