  1. I am trying to make a copy of one of the discs from the Battlestar Galactica Complete Series DVD Box Set.

Disc 5 has been giving me some problems. It is a single sided dual layered disc, so I tried using many different methods to copy it.

First I tried InstantCopy. Upon opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO in InstantCopy I was told that the IFO file was corrupt. So I opened it up in IFOEdit and did everything I could (get VTS sectors, remove pUps, etc...) to try and make the file non-corrupt. All of this to no avail.

Second I tried to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in DVDShrink. I did this by clicking the Open Files button and selecting the Directory where I ripped the files with DVD Decrypter. Upon analysing the files, DVDShrink told me that VTS_01_7.VOB was missing or not in the same directory. I went back to the original DVD and had a look, and there is no VTS_01_7.VOB on the disc.

What can I do about this problem?? and is there anything that I am doing wrong??

    Thanks,

    Well, a few things actually.

    You could:

Just create a VOB file using a dvd authoring software. Size will not be important I don't think. So just drop a picture file on the time line and have DVDWS or any authoring program make then DVD for you, make sure you write it to the HD. Once made, find the VIDEO_TS folder and rename the VOB file to VTS_01_7.VOB and copy it to your Battle star VIDEO_TS folder and retry.

The way I would recommend is to delete everything except the VOB files and use IFOedit and just make a movie only disc. If the video is too big, don't worry. Once you make the new IFO with IFOedit you can still take it into IC7 if you need to.

I have never encountered this issue but I know the second way will work.

  3. Thanks for the advice northcat_8!!!

The first of your ideas worked perfectly. I didn't even have to go through the trouble of creating a VOB, I just copied the smallest VOB from the disc (8 Kb) out of the directory and renamed it. I then moved it back in the directory and now both InstantCopy, and DVDShrink will recognize it. I already re-encoded and burned the files, and they look great. I even checked for any navigation problems and any sync problems; I found no problems.

    Thanks again,
