Hi, I downloaded a video recording of a concert, and it was supposedly an authored DVD. But when I tried to make an image using ImgTool, it gave me an error. Upon closer inspection I found that a file appears to be missing. These are the contents of the VIDEO_TS directory:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB

The folder is missing VTS_01_0.VOB, but it does have the .BUP and .IFO files. If I am not mistaken, the missing file should be the menu. Does anybody know how I can solve this problem and get it burned to a DVD? Someone on the forum where I got this said he was able to burn it using Divx, but that's lossy and I'd like to avoid that.

VTS_01_0.VOB should be the menu of the disc. Do you need it?

I can think of several options. You could extract the MPEG from the VOB files with VOB2MPG and reauthor it with the freeware GUI for dvd author, and add a new menu if that's what's missing. You could also play back the VOBs with a player like VLC and see what you do have. Extracting the MPEG or reauthoring won't change the quality.

    Exactly.
    Just start at VTS_01_1.VOB

I did play it with VLC, and no menu showed up, that does appear to be the missing part. I'll try the extract/reauthor method. What's a good program for making a menu?

Menus are made with the authoring program. You can use graphics programs if you want specific photo type menus. The choices are fairly well unlimited. Look to our 'Author' guides to the left. But most any authoring program will create simple menus.
